At Dame Bbradbury's parents are as much a part of our community as the children, and are involved in many aspects of school life.

Our parents come to class assemblies, plays and events such as information evenings and talks by staff and outside speakers. They also help out with reading, in the art room and on our many trips (once they have had a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, of course).

Please contact the school office if you're interested in finding out more about getting involved.

Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)

At Dame Bradbury's parents are involved in many aspects of school life and the Dame Bradbury’s Parent Teacher Association is an integral part of that, holding a number of events throughout the school year and acting as a conduit between staff and parents.

It is run by a committee, which meets at least twice a term. There are also a number of informal sub-committee meetings to organise particular fundraising and social events.

Class Representatives

Are a key part of the PTA team and work closely with the PTA committee to build the school community. Their role is to hold informal social meetings for parents regularly during the year through a variety of activities including coffee mornings and evenings out, with a particular emphasis on welcoming families that are new to the School.

The PTA committee organises a range of school-wide social events, with class representatives organising year-group events. Every year we hold a Christmas Fair as well as a Summer Fair, which is held on Sports day. In addition there is the ever popular Dame Bradbury’s Quiz night and a new event for 2019, the Dame Bradbury’s Fun Run. Once every two years we hold a Summer Ball.

The PTA have supported a number of school projects, which recently have included the teaching garden, the School council den-building equipment and the purchase of an additional amp for Dame Bradbury’s ever-growing music scene, as well as some sports and play equipment.

PTA shop

PTA members also run a school uniform shop selling good quality second-hand school uniform and other items, a proportion of the proceeds going to PTA funds. You can sell your child’s outgrown uniform via the shop. Please contact either the PTA or school office for more information.

Taking up the school’s focus on sustainability, PTA members are collecting old-style uniform and sending it to Mbopo School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Our first shipment went out late 2018 and we were very excited to see a picture of the children wearing the clothes. Please do donate any old-style uniform if you would like to help with this initiative.

Both parents and staff value the important role played by the PTA in promoting the Dame Bradbury’s community, and we are always pleased to hear from parents who would like to be involved in whatever capacity. If you feel that you could help, or would like to see a copy of our constitution, please contact us via the school office.
