The image above shows the cover of Jane’s new book, 'Painting Britten'. It will be sold at the launch on 18 June, and at the Pond Gallery during the Aldeburgh Festival and subsequently via Jane’s website. The 240-page, A5-sized paperback, with all 100 paintings in full colour, with commentaries on the music and on each painting, is priced at £20.
Jane says, “My passionate interest in Britten started when our much-loved music teacher at the Perse [Girls], ‘Miss Davey’ (Angela Greenwood, living in Wells now) introduced us to Saint Nicolas, Noye’s Fludde and A Ceremony of Carols. I was bowled over by singing these pieces at school and never looked back! I have dedicated the book to Miss Davey; her teaching quite literally altered the course of my life.”
