12 Stephen Perse students went on an inspiring journey to the ‘City of Dreams’ to play cricket at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with teams from Rajasthan Royals Academy and the Young Talent Academy.
One participating student said: “This was the trip of a lifetime for me and my friends. On the pitch, it was an unprecedented and amazing experience for us. We got to play on the highest quality pitches against some serious opponents during the week. It was a great showcase of development throughout the trip.”
The team of students from Years 10 and 12 travelled to the world-renowned stadium and delivered excellent performances against their skilled opponents.
As well as the opportunity to showcase their sporting prowess, students experienced Middle Eastern culture, visiting the Sheikh Mohammed Centre of Cultural Understanding, taking part in camel rides, a desert safari and a visit to the Burj Khalifa, and greatly enjoying the local cuisine.
Ray Mordini, Head of Cricket at Stephen Perse Cambridge, said: “Our students loved every minute of this tour. They all gave great performances and demonstrated clear progress and improvement throughout, demonstrating the dedication that we instil in our students. They also showed their respect and appreciation for the Emirati culture and learned a great deal during their stay in Dubai.”
Year 12 student and Team Captain, Pi, said: “This was a once in a lifetime experience for us, both on and off the pitch and I enjoyed every minute. Thank you so much to Mr Mordini and Mr Ward at Stephen Perse Cambridge for organising our trip, and to our tour guide Marshall for this incredible week.”
